Before I get into blogging, I want to lay a few things out — why the fuck I’m doing this, what to expect, and why you should (or shouldn’t) read it.

There are a couple of reasons I wanted to start blogging. First, I like to think I’m a pretty humorous guy, and if I can put a smile on even one person’s face, it’s worth it. Second, I love nothing more than getting into meaningful conversations or debates. When I throw an idea out there, I want people to challenge it — and I’ll challenge theirs right back. Lastly, I think this is a good way to help myself. Whether it’s holding myself accountable for goals and plans, or just talking about the shit life throws at me — especially the kind most of us in the “silent majority” deal with but don’t talk about — writing gives me space to process it.

Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever blog again after this or even post this first one anywhere. What you can expect, though, is the unexpected. I want to let every side of my personality and interests come through — from satire and comedy to mental health and business. Don’t be surprised if I go on random, passionate rants about seemingly meaningless shit.

And finally, the most apparent reason — this is a coping mechanism to deal with the sudden death of my dad. I want to use this blog to keep track of my passions and goals, and as a reminder to attack those with a level of drive I never knew I had. If nothing else, I hope it brings peace to the people who care about me — that I’m not going down some dark path. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll help someone out there dealing with the kind of hand I’ve been dealt.
